Our Ministries
Bethel has three ministry focuses. We believe that the Lord is calling us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through reducing food insecurity, providing affordable housing, and preserving our history.
In 2016, through the donation of a generous, God-inspired community member, Bethel launched its affordable housing ministry. Four duplexes totaling eight units were donated to Bethel. Each unit has three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a full basement.
Bethel serves family with our monthly hot meal program. Since the rise in food prices and inflation, we have launched the “Give a Bag” food initiative from food purchased and within our food pantry. Each bag we fill is filled with at least $30 of non-perishable items.
Founded September 23, 1836, Bethel A.M.E. in Richmond is the oldest still-active Black church in Indiana. Our building dates back to 1854 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. We are working to restore and rehabilitate our historic sanctuary.
